Comprehensive Treatment for Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders in San Antonio

Continuum Outpatient Center is an intensive outpatient treatment program (IOP) and partial hospitalization program (PHP) for substance use and mental health disorders located in San Antonio, Texas.

Our curriculum is designed to help patients overcome their past trauma, prevent relapse, heal relationships, and learn skills that enhance their lives. We not only teach our patients, but we also help them change their habits by putting the skills they learn into everyday practice.

The partial hospitalization program is our most comprehensive outpatient program, and is designed for more intensive care than what outpatient programs provide. A variety of services, such as therapy, mental health classes, individual psychotherapy, group therapy, addiction treatment, and group activities like yoga are offered daily.

Our team of compassionate experts will help you find the treatment program that works best for your unique needs, goals, and experiences.

How We Treat

CBT

Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is a form of psychotherapy that can be very effective at treating many types of mental health disorders. Negative and destructive thought patterns can make healing impossible. The goal of CBT is to help individuals identify and change these thought patterns by replacing them with patterns that encourage positive growth and healing.

DBT

Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a modified form of CBT that is a powerful tool helping a person learn to regulate their emotions and reduce self-destructive behaviors. The goal of DBT is to help teach you how to live in the present moment, cope with stress, and mend damaged relationships.

Trauma Therapy

Trauma and traumatic events can be a roadblock in the way of recovery and mental wellness. Trauma therapy will help you address any past trauma and help you learn ways to cope and move forward. Our mental health professionals use a variety of evidence-based techniques that have been shown to be effective in addressing and treating trauma.

Relapse Prevention

Recovery is a journey that must be taken one day at a time. The goal of relapse prevention is to help you identify the particular stressors and triggers that led to the development of substance use disorder in the first place. By understanding these risks, you can learn how to avoid them and find healthier ways to cope.

Flexible Scheduling

We know that life doesn’t stop because of mental health hardships. Because of this, Continuum Outpatient Center offers programming that fits your schedule and allows you to continue fulfilling obligations at home and work.

We offer both in-person and telehealth treatment opportunities, ensuring that accessibility is never a roadblock for recovery.

Why Choose Outpatient Treatment?

Outpatient treatment programs offer a unique set of benefits and advantages compared to other styles of addiction treatment. Not only can you continue living at home or in supportive recovery housing during treatment, but you can keep living your life as you see fit, all while receiving evidence-based care.

An outpatient treatment program can serve as either a front-line treatment for substance use or mental health disorders or as a step-down in care from an inpatient or residential program. Our programs are designed to fit around your life and provide you with the opportunity to put the skills you learn in treatment into application in real-time.

The Continuum Outpatient Center Difference

At Continuum Outpatient Center, we understand the number of challenges that our clients face on the road to recovery and healing. That’s why our program is designed to promote total health and wellness, allowing our clients to not only break free from their symptoms but also thrive in recovery.

Our 12-week curriculum offered at Continuum Outpatient Center helps people make meaningful progress in several areas of their lives. Components of the our curriculum include:

The Four Agreements

Based on the book by author Don Miguel Ruiz, the Four Agreements are a simple set of guidelines for a healthy and productive life. They state that you should be impeccable with your word, don’t take things personally, don’t make assumptions, and always do your best. The first steps of our program are built on this foundation.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness practices have been used for centuries to improve quality of life, but recent scientific inquiries have shown particular benefits for people struggling with addiction. Learning to live mindfully can not only help reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms but also teach you to manage daily life stressors and mental health challenges.
Comprehensive Treatment

Brain Works

Understanding how the brain is affected by substance use or mental health struggles plays an important role in the healing process. Not only can you learn how your brain is impacted, but you can also discover what you can do to accelerate the pathway to healing.

Life Skills

Substance use can often take priority over important aspects of living a healthy life. Life skills training helps our clients regain the skills they’ve lost or learn new ways of handling situations that can keep them on the road to recovery.

Human Relationships

Humans are social creatures, but substance use or mental health disorders can interfere with our ability to maintain healthy relationships. Our human relationships module helps you to build your communication skills, find a supportive peer network, and learn to be a better friend, partner, child, sibling, or spouse.

Relapse Prevention

Relapse is often a part of the recovery process, but it doesn’t have to be. With relapse prevention programming, you can learn to avoid the high-risk situations that can lead to relapse while also understanding how to get back on track if you do have a slip.

Trauma and Growth

Many people living with substance use or mental health disorders have experienced trauma. However, with targeted trauma therapy options, you can move into a period of post-traumatic growth.

Boundaries and Balance

Learning to set healthy boundaries is a critical component of keeping your life in balance. By learning your own limits and when it’s appropriate to say “no,” you can prevent yourself from being worn down or overcome by life’s challenges. This balance is critical to successfully recovering from a substance use disorder.

Self Care

All too often, people seeking recovery can find themselves burning the candle at both ends in the pursuit of wellness. Learning to take a step back, care for your own needs, and simply enjoy life in recovery can be a valuable skill to have in the recovery process.

Emotional IQ

Building emotional intelligence can play an important role not just in your recovery but in your life as a whole. Learning to recognize your emotions, effectively communicate them, and empathize with the struggle of others can be an inspirational force for a life well lived. Our emotional IQ module provides specific training to help you achieve these goals.
